Müge Hendekli - Piano

Born in 1975 in Istanbul. She studied at Istanbul University State Conservatory from 1981 to 1997, as a student of Prof. Ova Sünder. During this period, she also worked with Mehru Ensari. In 1993 she graduated from Robert College. In 1997 she graduated with the B.A. degree in Philosophy at Bosphorus University. She has given concerts at the XXIV, XXV, and XXIXth International Istanbul Music Festival (Young Soloists Section), and attended masterclasses with Leontina Margulis, Hüseyin Sermet, Gregory Haimovsky and Deidre O’Donohue. In 1998, she was accepted at New York University with half-scholarship and completed her M.A. studies in Piano Performance as a student of Dr. Sara Davis Buechner. She taught at Bilgi University Music Department from 2000 to 2005. In 2002, she started her doctoral studies at İTÜ MİAM as a student of State Artist Ayşegül Sarıca. She completed her PhD studies in 2008, with her thesis titled “Ravel and his Extra-Musical Associations in Solo Piano Works”. She became associate professor in 2012. Currently, she is working at Istanbul University State Conservatory, lecturing on Aesthetics and Mythology besides accompanying.
